NEVER thought i'd be driven to say that BTW, this came out of left field for me I promise, it's just such a bizarre and wild thing to do to someone

@AN conceptually yes, although in reality i have never once asked for a public harassment campaign explicitly before so this is new to me

"i dont copy or trace" neither of those are plagiarism, their 'copyright infringement' which is bullshit and you shouldn't care about lol

the only one thats related is "try pass outputs of AI as my own" however, you might say the AI made it, but the AI took things from a bunch of random people that got their stuff used for training data, and i dont see them mentioned-

which is also, plagiarism is not just saying you made things, but is also can be about not saying or obscuring who made something;

in the art world an example of this would be removing a signature from a picture, sure- maybe you don't also put your own signature over it, but many would still count that.

i'd also add that maybe plagiarism isn't always bad (but i have not thought this through too much) .. its just because well you see; 'minecraft is by hatsune miku'

@Li @wyatt Near as my neurodivergent ass understands it, the issue is that Texas Tech thought it'd be good idea to feed Cassandrich' post into their slop machine -- that would certainly convince a clearly anti-AI person that the slop machine is Good Actually, and not a total shit show based on lies and stolen data. Instead, Cassandrich rightly takes it as a violation.

Tech asking if they're okay after their justified outburst is just extra.

So yeah, whether the stealing of said data counts as plagiarism or copyright infringement doesn't matter.

At least, that's how I read it.

i used the words plagiarism machine because a) most stuff on the web they scrape is copyrighted (berne convention) and b) because someone i know doesn't like the term slop machine
