laptop touchpads all suck regardless of the period they are from
sometimes for the same fundamental reasons of not detecting touches properly and other times for not having real buttons or having stupid inverted scrolling you can't fix in software or whatever (this was a problem i hit in windows 8 i remember)

@wyatt some laptop touchpads are bearable, but i'd always pick a mouse over them especially for prolonged use

@mjdxp this is a pointing stick supremacy post but mouses are fine too

@mjdxp on a dell latitude right now with both which is what prompted this complaint
the touchpad is fucking useless and the pointing stick works

@wyatt yeah, the nipple trackpoint is way better to use

@wyatt @mjdxp mouses have the downside of needing to move the hand to paste

(I managed to bind {,Ctrl-}Shift-Ins to pasting PRIMARY and CLIPBOARD, respectively, into xterm, but that does not work for the few programs that don’t run in the terminal.)

@mirabilos @mjdxp i also have xterm binds like that but with different keys
